Below are some suggestions to help in identifying the problem with the seismograph.

Please describe exactly what is happening during the boot up process. Can you hear the fan and hard drive running? Verify the input power source is supplying a consistent 12 volts. Remove the instrument from the case and apply power. There are five Green LED indicators on the power supply PCB (bottom circuit board). They should all be lit and approximately the same brightness. Each indicates that a power module on the power supply board is working. Also check the three Green LED indicators on the back of the display assembly. Lift the display lid, the LED's are located on the right hand side and can be viewed through a small access hole in the black panel. There are two more LED's on each acquisition PCB, located one third of the way in, on the left hand side, look behind the mounting bracket which holds the PC boards in.

Attach an external monitor to the system and report any text messages that appear. Does the system boot up to the normal seismic program screen? If not what is the last message which did appear? Please report the results of the above tests to Geometrics customer service.
