Below are some printer tests that might help. If the printer does not work in the seismic program, test the printer in DOS mode. After boot up, exit to DOS, using an external keyboard use DOS commands to copy or print a file to the printer. If this works the printer hardware is functional. If not working in DOS mode, check printer lever, cables to printer, fuse on printer interface PCB, power to/for printer from the power supply, and the blue ribbon cable on the back of the seismograph. An external printer can be attached to verify if the printer circuitry is operational. Report to Geometrics ustomer service what tests you were able to perform and the results. Report any error messages on boot up indicating printer failure. When did the printer last work? Was an external printer used? If yes, check the blue ribbon cable on the parallel port on the back of the system for bent pins or faulty contact.
