Can I use an USB Ethernet adapter to run the Geode?
Article Details

Yes, the following USB adapters are recommended:

  • Microsoft MN-110
  • SMC SMC2209USB/ETH
  • Netgear FA120
  • As an alternate choice: TRENDnet TU2-ET100

1) Microsoft version has the best software interface. It has a cable that has a strain relief into the small box. It uses a funnel strain relief. The problem with this one is USB 1.0 . It works on 2.0 but XP notices it is not high speed.

2) The SMC unit is best for physical implementation. It has a direct plug to USB and a cable extender. Software is OK.

3) The Net Gear is OK. Physical implementation is OK. Software works.

4) The Trend device is OK for physical properties. It is furnished with a 3 ½ inch floppy for drivers. For this reason we will not recommend it as first choice. It is completely acceptable if one of the others are not available.
